Class News

What another great week we have had in year 5! This week the children have been working exceptionally hard to finish their Howard Carter diaries and they have produced some amazing work. They have worked hard on their sentence types and description to describe the adventure of Howard Carter and his discovery of Tutankhamun! In maths we have moved onto addition and subtraction, the children have been working hard. In PE this week, we have the cricket coach who played some great competitive games which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We also had our final CCI lesson in which we had to find the most soluble material for soaking up water. They had a great time experimenting with different materials and figuring out which one absorbed the most water. We also interviewed two people from BP, asking great questions about their job and finding out what it is like to work in STEM!

Below is a link to a video which explains what Times Table Rockstars is and how using it at home will help with your child’s understanding of their times tables. It shows how the app works on different devices so it can be used at home with ease. We host many different tournaments between classes and year groups which your child can participate in. Please click the picture below.

On Tuesday 17th October, we would like to invite parents into school to learn about the children’s online learning platforms from 2.30pm. We would like both parent and child to access Reading Plus, TTRS, EdShed, The School Website and Accelerated Reader to support the transition of learning in school and at home. We look forward to meeting you all again 🙂
