Class News 9th January 2022

We have had an AMAZING week in year 5!! We have started our new written piece in English which is a procedural text on mummification explaining how to mummify a Pharaoh! The children have been very enthusiastic towards their work and we are extremely excited to see what they produce. In Maths we have started to multiply 2, 3, and 4 digit numbers by 1 digit and the children have put a lot of effort into it!

In science this week, we have tried the mummification procedure on a tomato which we will be reviewing every week to see if the process is effective. This week we started our new indoor PE sessions, we are practising Yoga focusing on our minds and wellbeing. We also researched about the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt, such as Tutankhamun and Cleopatra, and what we know of their lives. We cannot wait to continue with our topic Tomb Raiders in the weeks to come.

Keep checking Spelling shed to practise the spellings for the week with fun interactive games! Times Table Rockstars is a great way to practise their times tables to help with their mathematical skills! Keep up the hard work year 5.
