Class News 15/9/2023

What a brilliant week we have had! The children published their first piece of work and their writing is brilliant, we cannot wait to see how they improve and work on new sentence types and topics. In maths we have been continuing with place value and have moved into rounding to 10,100 and 1000. They have great dedication and have worked hard to get plenty of own its! In English we have started to plan our procedural text on mummification. The children have been researching how to mummify a pharaoh and they have been very enthusiastic and we cannot wait to read their final piece. On Wednesday we had Roald Dahl Day, the children were very excited coming into school to see who would find our golden tickets first. They were hidden very well! Well done to Heidi and Lexie!

We had our first session of cricket on Tuesday morning and the coach was blown away with the children’s skills and behaviour. They worked hard with their throwing, catching and batting skills which we will be working on for the rest of the term. In science the children have been looking at gravity and how it effects different objects and how quickly they fall. Our topic session was all about the different famous pharaohs within ancient Egypt, when they existed and what they were famous for including King Tutankhamun, Ramesses II and Cleopatra VIII.

Just a reminder- Please can the children have a packed lunch and a sensible coat for Monday as we will be going to Middlesbrough Town Hall. Make sure the children arrive on time as we will be leaving just after 9! Thank you!
