What a wonderful week we have had! We have started our new English piece which is a newspaper report on the first mayor of Middlesbrough, Henry Bolckow. We had our end of block test in maths which the children put 100% effort into. We are now starting our new topic which is perimeter and area. The children would benefit from having quick recall of their times tables so please encourage your child to go onto Times Table Rockstars at home.

Wednesday was no pen day! The children thoroughly enjoyed the ban of their pens and were fully engrossed in other activities. In English we had a poetry slam where the children worked in small groups or independently to recite either Sick by Shel Silverstein or A Little Bit of Food by Joseph Coelho. They loved adding actions to their performances and they were all very confident! We played Times Table Rockstars in maths. On the afternoon, we created our beautiful winter calendar and had great fun on with Just Dance and the glockenspiels.

Congratulations to Lexie and Layla H for making it into the golden book for their amazing work in the poetry slam! Well done girls! 🙂
