What a busy week in Nursery! We have been learning about the World Cup and enjoyed our Sports Celebration. We wanted to share all the skills we have practised and developed over the year. Every child develops at their own rates and we aim to support all children at their level of development. We provide opportunities for all children to practise the fundamental movement skills, these include:
Locomotor Skills: Movements that involve transporting the body from one place to another. For example, walking, running, skipping, hopping, jumping, and galloping.
Stability & Balance Skills: Movements where the body maintains control without traveling. For example, balancing on one leg, rolling (like a pencil), bending, twisting, stretching, and climbing.
Object Control (Manipulative) Skills: Actions that involve handling or using objects, typically a ball. For example, throwing, catching, kicking, striking, and bouncing
We hope you enjoyed our Celebration. It wasn’t about winning, it was about letting ,our children show you their skills and we think all our children are winners as they tried their best. (Even with lots of people watching them!)

Thank you for your continued support at our events.
Science news…
And in other news in Nursery, our caterpillars have now built their cocoons! Watch this space to find out how they are getting on…
Phonics and Oracy
In Phonics, the Caterpillars group (children staying in nursery in September) continue to practise clapping syllables and rhyming words. We can tell they have been practising this at home. The Butterflies group (children going into Reception) have learnt the following sounds. We need to recognise them speedily…

Thank you again for practising oral blending at home, we can see they are really making progress with this!
We continue to work on our oracy skills in Nursery. We are focussing on good listening and being quiet when it’s not our turn to speak. We need to listen to adults and other children, their voice is important too.
The UN Children’s Rights, Article 13 is Freedom of expression. Children have the right to think freely and share their thoughts, ideas, and information, provided it does not harm the rights of others. Here are our Oracy listening and quiet please reminders…

Our story this week…
This week we have enjoyed watching Jill Scott share the story, The Footballing Fairy.
Certificates

Well done to our Pupil of the Week, Lenny. You brighten up Nursery Lenny, you are a super star!
Messages from School
Dates to remember:
Tuesday 7th July at 11.45pm – New to Reception Lunch Taster – for children and their parents coming into Reception to try a school lunch. Meet the kitchen staff, have a yummy lunch and find out how to get their lunches!
Thursday 9th July – Attendance Treat Day – Attendance to Nursery is so beneficial for our children. Research shows that children with strong attendance at early years settings start primary school with better learning outcomes and higher levels of school readiness. To celebrate attendance at Newham Bridge Nursery, we are planning some lovely treats for this day!
Thursday 9th July at 3.30pm – School Fair
Thursday 16th July – We would like to invite you to our final Stay and Play of the Year! Picnic food, a free book and information about getting ready for September. For health and safety reasons and space in Nursery, please only 1 parent. One parent please sign up on sheet in the corridor to let us know who will be coming along.
Morning Children – 10.30-11.15am
Afternoon Children – 2.15-3.00pm
Attendance: Pupil Absences
Thank you for letting the school office know if your child will be absent from Nursery. Holiday forms can also be collected from the office. We have a statutory responsibility to safeguard all of our children, this includes attendance in Nursery and Reception. Please contact the school office if your child will not be attending Nursery that day. If your child has not attended Nursery for three days without contact, school will be contacting you with a child welfare phone call.
Lateness
We have adapted our timetable as those children who are late miss were missing important skills to help with their fine motor skills. We now go straight into our play either indoors or outdoors, please try to be on time at 8.30am morning or 12.15pm afternoon, as we learn through play.
Water Bottles
In the hot weather, please ensure your child brings their water bottle so they have access to water throughout the session. Thank you for your support with our oral health programme by providing only water in their bottle and with their name on.
Sun cream
Please apply sun cream before coming to Nursery and don’t forget to bring a hat/cap.
Have a happy weekend everyone! Mrs Huggins
