What a lovely week in Reception. Due to good weather, we were lucky to have our EYFS sports afternoon on Wednesday before the rain! We had lots of fun on the balance bikes on Thursday and lots of other busy learning about giving clear instructions and keeping healthy the rest of the week! Here is just a snippet of what we’ve been doing in Reception…

This week in Maths we have been following clear instructions, directing each other around the classroom and using Code-a-pillar to develop our coding skills. We are also finding out what metacognition is and working on our resilience and what to do when we don’t know what to do! We have been following the strategy – PLAN – DO – REVIEW – when doing tasks both indoor and outdoor!

Sports Afternoon – We had a very successful sports afternoon – a big thank you to all the children and parents who came to support us! We loved seeing smiles on everyone’s faces! We enjoyed the egg and spoon race, throwing bean bags, hurdles, running and football dribbling. The Reception team were very proud of the children for trying their best and also for supporting their team mates.

Balance Bikes – We finished our week with a wonderful day learning how to ride a balance bike! Richard from Pro Ride Coaching, brought balance bikes and helmets into school for us to learn and develop our skills. The Reception team were so proud of the resilience of the children, everyone tried their best even with the ramp and limbo! Good job everyone!

PUPIL OF THE WEEK – A big WELL DONE to our Pupils of the week this week- Darcey-Mae from the Sunshine group and Zachary from the Rainbow group!
