Summer 2- Week 1

What an amazing first week back we have had. The children have came back with an excellent attitude towards their new learning and have put 100% effort into everything they have completed. This week Miss Vanderson, Mrs Barker and Mrs Matthewman’s writing groups have drafted two of their letters from ‘One Story, Many Tellings’ showing difference in formality and tone. We look forward to writing their 3rd and final letter next week which will be their informal telling of their version of events.

We have been working hard in History learning about Charles I and Charles II. The children were having detailed discussions about how power within the monarchy had changed due to Charles I’s ways of ruling. They looked at how the Great Plague was dealt with and the different ways in which the people of London had to live to try and control it.

On Thursday, the girls had their Rubies session which was all about getting the girls to believe in themselves and recognise how amazing they can be. Whilst the girls were busy with their session, the boys came out with Miss Vanderson, Mrs Tweddle and Mr Grierson to learn how to build a fire in the wilderness. They had to get their own wood and use flint and steel to create a spark to get it going. As a treat, they roasted marshmallows and made s’mores once they had successfully lit the fire.

At the end of the week, the children have started to rehearse their end of school production, Shakespeare Rocks. We are super impressed with how much they have grown in confidence and we cannot wait to show you! The children must be practising the songs and their lines at home to help with the rehearsals in school. Keep it up Year 6! 🙂

Congratulations to our pupils of the week!

In 2BV, the pupil of the week this week is Ava for having an excellent attitude towards all aspects of school this week- especially in English and Shakespeare rocks rehearsal.

In 2KT, the pupil of the week this week is Edith for her improvement in her writing and confidence in group discussions.

Happy birthday to Georgie and Isabelle W this week, we hope you have a wonderful birthday! 🙂
