We have had another brilliant week. We are very proud of all of the boys and girls in Year 1 for their excellent attitude towards their learning.
In English, we continued to read The Smartest Giant in Town. We drew our favourite character and wrote a sentence about why it is our favourite character. We then started to read a story called Stickman in preparation for our sentence writing next week.
In Maths, we have been exploring addition using a part-whole model, we then progressed onto writing number sentences!
In Science, we learned about fish and amphibians. We created and labelled our own fish. They looked amazing and we very colourful!
In Topic, we learned about what the seasons are like in the United Kingdom. We also explored what the weather is like in each season.
Notices
As the seasons change, we would like to showcase all of the wonderful things that you do at home in Autumn. Please send in any photos of the fun activities, adventures, days out, or special moments so that the children can share them with the class. The children really enjoy talking about their experiences and seeing what their friends have been doing.
Reading
The children have been given a phonics reading book or sheet to read at home. Phonics books will be changed each Friday and sharing books are changed Tuesday and Thursday. Books remain in school each Thursday evening, ready for the Phonics book change.
PE– Our PE days this term are Tuesday and Wednesday.
PE uniform –
White t-shirt, black shorts, plimsolls/trainers, plain joggers (no branding), school jumper for outdoors.
Please remove earrings for PE.
Homework
The children are coming home today with their homework folder. All of the information needed is attached to the folder. If you have any questions however, please just ask a member of staff.
