Spring 2 – Week 3

This week school was transformed into the Hogwarts School of Reading and Wizardry. We have had multiple displays created around school to immerse your child in a magical week of reading.

On Tuesday, the children took part in a whole school write. It was a fantastic read, each year group in school took part and it is available to read under the Classes Tab, World Book Day 2024. Each year group wrote their own section, it was an opportunity to show off their fabulous vocabulary and sentence structures in a magical themed adventure story.

On Wednesday, we completed a Reading Carousel. Each class visited a different teacher to complete an activity – we produced characters from character descriptions, sang songs about books, identified books in songs, drew spiders and competed in competitions on Kahoot! It was a wonderful experience for all children and adults.

It was a joy to see their wonderful creations on Thursday for a World Book Day Potato competition enter school, and we hope you had fun voting for the teacher creations. Below are some wonder photographs of the entries from our year group, but again on the World Book Day 2024 Tab you will see some fabulous creations from around school, plus the winning entry. The whole school joined force for a World Book Day House Quiz, please ask your child which House won the overall competition as everyone was excited and joining in, in the hall!

Finally, today, it has been a school of magic truly. Costumes have blown all staff away, your children are very creative! We have completed The World Book Day Token competition, Teacher Reading Swap, Come and Read with Reception children and a QR Code Hunt to identify the teachers favourite book.

Today, your child will arrive home with the Book Token, don’t forget to use your token to receive one of the FREE books available to them: Onyeka and the Secret Superhero! Can you get jellyfish in space? Dread Wood Creepy Creations! The Doomsday Date!

The magic of reading has been captured this week.

Pupil of the Week – Dominic for fantastic storytelling and Ajeet for his determination to succeed in everything he does.

World Book Day Potato competition winner was Isobelle and Grace

Happy 11th Birthday to Grace, we hope you have a lovely time celebrating your special day.
