Nursery 24.4.26

Welcome back to Nursery. We hope you had a nice two week break. Our topic this half term is Dear Zoo and we’ve already started learning about pets and how to look after them.

We have a vet role play area and the children have enjoyed looking after our pet puppies, kitten, turtle and hamster. (We might turn it into a pet shop next time)

In maths, we have been comparing weights and using the vocabulary heavier and lighter.

In science, we are learning about animals and starting to look at animals and their young.

Here we are being super busy this week. We have been practising our cutting skills and holding a pencil correctly. This is a skill we all need to be practising! Thank you for having a go at home too.

In phonics, the children staying in Nursery next September are learning nursery rhymes. Lots of practise at home will help. The children going into Reception in September have been learning these pictures before we start learning our letter sounds/graphemes. We have them displayed in nursery for the children to see daily. These are the pictures (not the letter sounds yet) we have learnt this week. Please look at the Nursery Support Page for more information about Read Write Inc.

Our story this week…

We have loved sharing the story Dear Zoo this week! We definitely don’t want an elephant, lion, camel or a monkey for a pet! Do you have any interesting pets? The children were telling us all about them. Feel free to send us a photo of your child with their pet! contact@newhambridge.org.uk

Pupil of the Week

Well Done Grace! You’ve had a great week in nursery this week! 🙂

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to you Mia-Rose! We hope you had a great day!

Message from Nursery:

We are planning a nursery visit… watch this space!

Please try to be on time to nursery, we start our routine straight away and some children are missing out on their learning. We open the doors at 8.30am for the morning session and 12.15pm for the afternoon session.

Please only put water in your child’s water bottle. Thank you for your support with our oral health programme.

Come and Read continues on Fridays! Please come at the beginning of the session for a story if you can, as we close the doors to do the register after 15 minutes. Morning session 8.30am. Afternoon session 12.15pm.

And, don’t forget to return book bags on a Friday.

Morning Children – PE is on a Thursday. Please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit and suitable shoes on this day, so they can join in safely.

Afternoon Children – PE is on a Monday. Please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit and suitable shoes on this day, so they can join in safely.

We hope you have a nice weekend and enjoy the sunshine! Mrs Huggins
