Our children going into Reception have had a busy week learning what to do at lunchtimes, food tasting and exploring their new classroom! Our children staying in Nursery in September, have enjoyed spending time with their friends. (They even explored Reception too!) Here we are learning what provision looks like in Reception.
We had our wonderful school fair and another ice pop treat to cool us down! What a lovely, busy week!
BIG Science news…
The BIG news in Nursery this week is, we had BUTTERFLIES! They finally completed their metamorphosis. We had five beautiful butterflies and the children have been fascinated watching them over the last few weeks. We loved letting them go free!! We hope you have enjoyed hearing all about them! Phonics and Oracy
In Phonics, the Caterpillars group (children staying in nursery in September) are learning alliteration. The Butterflies group (children going into Reception) have learnt the following sounds. We need to recognise them speedily…
Some children are trying to write their names, please encourage them to use the Read Write Inc phrases to help them form the letters correctly.
Thank you for providing your child with lots of fun activities to develop their fine motor skills too. This will really help when they start writing in Reception.
This week our Oracy skills have been to show good listening and safe sitting. That means we can keep our bodies still, either criss-cross (legs crossed) or on the rocks (on our knees) to show we are ready to listen.
Our story this week…
This week we have enjoyed listening to the story, I’m the best! written by Lucy Cousins. Our word of the week is boast. When he’s finished boasting about being the best, his friends try to help him realise we are all good at different things and our differences should be celebrated. (not just celebrating winning all the time!)
We also talked about doing our best at Sports Day! Look at us getting our medals!

Thursday 16th July – We would like to invite you to our final Stay and Play of the Year! Picnic food, a free book and information about getting ready for September. For health and safety reasons and space in Nursery, please only 1 parent. One parent please sign up on sheet in the corridor to let us know who will be coming along. Don’t forget to bring a picnic blanket and a teddy!

Attendance: Pupil Absences
Thank you for letting the school office know if your child will be absent from Nursery. Holiday forms can also be collected from the office. We have a statutory responsibility to safeguard all of our children, this includes attendance in Nursery and Reception. Please contact the school office if your child will not be attending Nursery that day. If your child has not attended Nursery for three days without contact, school will be contacting you with a child welfare phone call.
Lateness
We have adapted our timetable as those children who are late miss were missing important skills to help with their fine motor skills. We now go straight into our play either indoors or outdoors, please try to be on time at 8.30am morning or 12.15pm afternoon, as we learn through play.
Water Bottles
In the hot weather, please ensure your child brings their water bottle so they have access to water throughout the session. Thank you for your support with our oral health programme by providing only water in their bottle and with their name on.
Sun cream
Please apply sun cream before coming to Nursery and don’t forget to bring a hat/cap.
