This week has gone incredibly quickly and has, yet again, been filled with fantastic activities and opportunities for the children in Year 6.
The week began with some rehearsals for our performance – Shakespeare Rocks. The children have learned their lines really well, and are singing beautifully. We were very fortunate, this week, to have David Tufnell, a school governor, actor and theatre director, come into school and give the children some top tips on performing to the best of their ability. We can’t wait for them to wow audiences with their final performances. The shows take place on Monday 8th July @10am and @2pm (no under 3s). Tickets are available now, from Mrs Tweddle.

As well as music and singing lessons with Mrs Collins, we have been continuing our Stepping Up Together programme with Mr Foster. This week focussed on drugs, their uses, and the dangers associated with prescription and illegal drugs for both an individual and their community.
The girls continued their work with Rubies and the boys worked on Forest School activities around knot tying for shelters as well as helping to create some upcycled pallet planters which will help to make the school environment more welcoming.

Science Week
Our week ended with Science. The children participated in the whole school investigation: ‘The older you are the taller you are. Prove it.’ The children came up with various methods to compare measurements of age to measurements of height. They produced a series of graphs from the data, which will contribute to the findings from across school next week. We also participated in a pilot science programme from Johnson Matthey (Billingham) to look at using materials to have a positive effect on hydrogen fuel cells. The children were really engaged in both activities and shown they could easily become the scientists and engineers of the future.
