We have really hit the ground running and worked brilliantly since coming back from the Christmas holiday. Our second week has seen us continue with some superb work across a variety of curriculum areas.
In English this week, we began a new piece of writing all about polar bears and whether or not they should be kept in captivity. We embarked upon an epic amount of research into these magnificent creatures in the wild, as well as finding out more about the zoos and enclosures where they are found in captivity. Its a tough subject but we’ll try and see both sides of the argument next week. We found out lots of useful information, thanks to the conservation charity, Polar Bears International. If you’d like to learn more about the bears and even track their movements in real time, you can visit their website HERE.
In Maths, we completed our latest block of maths work, all about ratio and proportion. The children worked brilliantly at understanding the multiplicative relationships between numbers and continuing patterns and sequences in the same proportions. We used these skills to solve some real life ratio problems – with a particular focus on money. Visit HERE to find out more.
In topic we learned a great deal more about the Earth and how we locate places around it. We began to understand more about the Arctic, Antarctic, Tropics and lines of Latitude and Longitude. You can learn more HERE.
After School clubs began this week and it’s great to continue to see so many Y6 children at homework club and other activities throughout the week.
Our Pupils of the Week this week, were Zak and Lissie.
