This week, the children have all been on transition, spending valuable time getting used to their new secondary school. We’ve heard some stories of fantastic form groups and brilliant lessons and we wish them all the very best for next year.
Our sports day took place on Monday, and the children had a wonderful time helping and supporting each other through their final set of sports at Newham Bridge. The children were great competitors and the event ended in a brilliant win for Saturn.
This week, we have been reminiscing about our time at Newham Bridge, thinking about the events and activities we have enjoyed, the people who have inspired us and our achievements, both academic and personal. We have been making short films as part of this project, using the iPads and iMovie. We enjoyed reminding one another of the good times we have had in school.
On Friday afternoon, we participated in an anti bullying workshop, delivered by the staff and students from Outwood Acklam. It was really useful to highlight and remind us how important it is to be kind and caring to others. We also looked at strategies for dealing with bullying and supporting our friends in getting help.
PE this week was rounders, with two very competitive matches happening between the classes on both Thursday and Friday.
In Stepping Up Together this week, we talked about the importance of looking after our local area and what to do to help keep it looking its best. We learned about vandalism and the consequences of our actions on people and property.
The children who were not on transition on Tuesday, spent the day at Forest School. We had a great time building shelters (from the rain), making wooden bird feeders and learning how to start fires.
This week, we also watched the recording of our Shakespeare Rocks performance from last week. We were absolute superstars and we enjoyed (and cringed) watching ourselves on the big screen.
PUPIL OF THE WEEK
Well done to Lindon for tremendous teamwork during sports day and to Vivienne, for great attitude in helping and supporting other teams at sports day
This is the last full week at Newham Bridge for our Y6 children. On Monday, we’ll be sharing the SATs scores and end of year levels with the children. A printed report with results and information will be coming home too.
