This week has been full of book related activities. We’ve taken part in… A Wonder Walk! A Book in a Box! A Story Hunt! Now Press Play Headphones! Planted Magic Beans! Teacher Swap with Mrs Rooney from Year 4! Reading Buddies from Year 6! Dressing up day! And lots more! Here is just a snippet…

What books do you enjoy reading?
In PE, we are learning gymnastics skills. This week, we did lots of balancing on different body parts. Sorry I’m having trouble sharing photos, I’ll try again on Monday.
The skills we are working on is fine motor. Can your child hold their pencil in a dominant hand, using a comfortable grip with some control? Encourage lots of mark making with different tools like, chalk, crayons, pencils, pens. Please encourage your child to hold the pencil correctly, using the tripod grip.
Stories this week…
Our story for World Book Week was Jack and the Beanstalk! Can your child tell you what happened? Then we laughed at the funny story The Giant’s Loo Roll! On Thursday, we shared the pictures in Nick Sharratt’s, You Choose. Fantastic book for oracy, we recommend this one! (See the parent support page for more information about oracy in school)

Nursery Pupil of the Week
We would like to give our Pupil of the Week certificate this week to Sophia for being a kind friend in nursery. We did a story hunt on Wednesday and once Sophia had finished, she went back to help her friends find the pictures! How kind, thank you Sophia!

Message from Nursery:
PE Days please ensure your child is in suitable shoes. We are doing gymnastics this half term, so it would be really helpful if your child can take their own shoes and socks off and put them back on!
PE Days are: Monday afternoon children – Thursday morning children
Friday 13th March: Mother’s Day Come and Read
Don’t forget, our next Stay and Play is on Thursday 19th March and a PD day on Friday 20th March.

Please check the notice board in the corridor for our up to date weekly school newsletter.
Thank you for sending in photos of what you have been doing outside of nursery! We love seeing your happy faces! One of the parents was telling me about the refurbishment at Middlesbrough Central Library, it sounds like there are some lovely things going on there! If you know of any local groups/activities/events let me know! We talked about a local what’s on notice board – if you think this is a good idea, let me know!
Have a good weekend! Mrs Huggins 🙂
