Our topic is… Me and My Family
The children are starting to learn our nursery routines and we are very proud of them, especially the children who have just turned 3! This half term we are learning all about ‘Me and My Family.’ So we started by looking at our faces in the mirror. We talked about what our eyes, nose, mouth and ears are for. In phonics, we were looking at environmental sounds and we all went on a listening walk around school! We listened very carefully to the different voices and interesting sounds we could hear. I wonder what noises you hear on the way home from nursery?
We are working on listening to instructions and tidying away when we have finished playing with a toy. We say, “Choose it, Use it, Put it away!”

Story of the Week:

Our story this week has been ‘The Colour Monster,’ by Anna Llenas. In the story, the monster’s feelings are all mixed up. The little girl helps him by identifying the different feelings and connecting them with a colour. If your little one is struggling with big emotions, it might be a good story to share at home too. I’ve put a lovely version below. 🙂
Nursery Pupil of the Week
We are so proud of all our nursery children. This week, we would like to give our Pupil of the Week certificate to… Lenny for coming into nursery with a smile on his face everyday! It really has made us smile too! 🙂

Happy Birthday Nolan. We hope you had a great day.
News from Nursery:
Sharing Books: Today we have sent home a sharing book for you and your child to share together. We are working on listening skills, developing language and fostering a love of books and reading. There are so many benefits of reading with children and we hope you will enjoy it too! We will change sharing books every Friday. Any questions please ask!
PE Days: Afternoon nursery PE kit on a Monday and Morning nursery PE kit on a Wednesday. Our school PE uniform is a white school/plain t-shirt, black shorts or joggers (no branding), school jumper, trainers. Please remove earrings on PE days.
Coats: Please ensure your child has a waterproof coat at nursery everyday. The weather is a bit unpredictable at the moment but we love going outdoors in all weather! Please also put your child’s name in all their uniform.
Speech and Language Screening: We continue to carry out a speech and language screening to assess and track your child’s vocabulary, listening and storytelling skills. Speech and Language information can be found on the notice board in the corridor.
Toothbrushing: The children continue brushing their teeth in nursery as part of our daily routine.
