Our topic is… Me and My Family
What a busy week in nursery. We hope you enjoyed your autumn walk, the children were so excited to share their ‘Autumn Treasure’ bags and talk about what they had found. We were using magnifying glasses to look very closely! We also talked about what we would wear in the autumn if it is wet, windy or cold and we saw photographs of a hedgehog preparing to hibernate. We plan to make a hedgehog house just in case we have any local hedgehogs needing a place for the winter; the children have some lovely ideas! We also had an afternoon practise fire alarm this week, the children were very sensible. (Morning children will practise next term)
In phonics, we have been using our voices and body parts to make different noises.
In maths, we are comparing sizes using the language big, small, biggest, smallest.

Skills we are working on this week are listening to adult instructions to keep us safe in nursery and we are encouraging the children to put their own coat on for outdoor play.
Story of the Week:

Our story was ‘The Leaf Thief’ by Alice Hemming and Nicola Slater. Squirrel has forgotten what happens in the Autumn and thinks someone is stealing all of his leaves, when really it’s just the wind blowing them off the trees! What a funny story! We liked listening to the story then doing craft activities with the fallen leaves!
Nursery Pupil of the Week
We are so proud of all our nursery children. This week, we would like to give our Pupil of the Week certificate to Sumayya. You have had a lovely week joining in with lots of Autumn activities. Thank you for being a super star!

Happy Birthday Grace. We hope you had a great day.

Nursery Attendance:
If your child is poorly or going to be absent from nursery, you can let us know or ring the office on 01642 816884. The new EYFS guidance emphasizes that regular, punctual attendance at nursery is crucial for a child’s learning, development, and well-being, as consistent attendance helps children settle and build strong relationships with staff and their peers.
Thank you for your support. We hope you have a good weekend! Mrs Huggins 🙂
