KS1 Weekly News – 8.9.23

Welcome back to all the children in Key Stage 1!

We are very proud of how smart the children look in their school uniforms, how they have settled into the routines of their new classrooms and are following our Golden Rules. We are looking forward to a fantastic year together – Let’s INSPIRE, ENJOY AND ACHIEVE!

IHL – It is lovely to see the children settling back into school routines after the Summer holiday. 1HL have played ‘getting to know you games, painted self-portraits, sorted objects in maths and impressed Mrs Huggins with their writing.

1TS – The children in 1TS have been super! They have been remembering the Golden Rules, writing about themselves and also painting self-portraits. They learnt about the composer Kerry Andrew and even composed their own piece using body percussion. What a great start – Miss Stainthorpe is super proud of you.

1MG – What a busy start in Year 2! Mr Griffiths is very proud of all the children and how well they have settled back in after the Summer. You have tried really hard with your work already – let’s keep it up Year 2!

We have been learning about the composer Kerry Andrew. She was born in London and after school and college she went to York University to study composition. She became a composer, performer and author and she wrote a fabulous piece of music we have enjoyed listening to called… No place like. What type of music do you like?

Pupil of the Week

1HL – Well done Lilliana – You have started Year 2 with a positive attitude and a huge smile!

1TS – Well done Hallie P – Thank you for being a great role model to the Year 1s.

1MG – Well done Maggie – What a superstar, you have settled into Year 2 really well this week.
