BEACHCOMBER’S

Welcome back! KS1 have had such a busy start to our Summer term and we have all immersed ourselves into our new topic – BEACHCOMBER’S! In this topic we will be exploring the UK, its surrounding seas and learning lots about our coasts.

1ES & 1TS

This week we have been exploring riddles in English. We have been learning lots of facts about different coastal animals and composing our very own clues ready to write our riddle next week! In Maths we have begun to learn our numbers to 50! During our Science lessons the children loved exploring how germs can easily be spread by investigating the spread of glitter – we all appreciate the importance of washing our hands now! In PSHE the children have been amazing at looking after our environment – we visited our school allotment to find it was a huge mess! We have begun to tidy it up, remove rubbish and litter, collecting natural waste and using our compost bins to dispose of it ready to use our allotment in our next Science topic – plants!

Our Year 1 children would like to say a huge Thank You to parents for coming to share their fantastic learning and explore their books with them!

1MG

This week we launched our topic with Now Press Play whereby we used drama to imagine we were at the seaside and what we might find. In Art we have been practising our weaving techniques to create a crab. We have paid attention to detail and used our fingers expertly to achieve the finished piece. We have also had the opportunity to demonstrate our artistic flare by creating our very own sea scape to launch our topic – we used a variety of different cool colours to paint our own interpretation of a sea scape.

Our Year 2 children would like to invite parents to share their learning through a book look on Thursday 27th April at 2:45pm.
