KS1 Weekly News 26.01.24

The children have had a lovely week this week!

1TS & 1HL have been working hard on their numbers to 20 in Maths. We have been partitioning teen numbers into tens and ones, using practical equipment to support our understanding. In English, we have been exploring the purpose and features of instruction texts. We made some delicious fruit kebabs and then written a simple set of instructions on how to do this. Our favourite part was eating the fruit kebab! In Geography, we have been using compasses to identify North, South, East and West.

1MG have been consolidating their learning on money. We have used practical equipment to support our understanding. In English, we have been exploring the text ‘Lila and the secret of rain.’ We discussed the characters and their feelings and explored key features of the text. We are building up to write our own retell of the story. In Geography, we have explored daily weather patterns of the UK. We tracked the weather across the week and checked if this matched up to the daily weather report. We then used our computing skills to make our own weather report.

KS1 have thoroughly enjoyed our music sessions this week with Sing Education. We have explored pulse, rhythm and pitch. We have really enjoyed learning our new songs in the whole school singing assembly.
