Reading is Magic Week!

KS1 have had a MAGICAL week! Our school transformed into the school of WitchWe have thoroughly enjoyed all of our magical activities in celebration of World Book Day 2024!

We started the week with our ‘come and read’ sessions in the hall. It was lovely to see so many parents joining us for a nice story to start the day. In Writing, we have been reading a story about the dragon Zog and have written some wonderful character descriptions of him. We have been doing some Magical Maths exploring numbers bonds to 10 and 20 using different equipment. We have been potion making in Science! We conducted an experiment using milk, food coloring and washing up liquid. We enjoyed watching the vibrant colours burst!

We had a carrousel of reading activities in 1MG, ITS and 1HL. We made our own wands, enjoyed some free reading time and learned a new song about Charlie Cook’s favourite book!

We have had lots of whole school activities which we have thoroughly enjoyed. We written a whole school story and we had a story hunt on the playground. We took part in a competitive reading quiz in our team houses – it was so exciting!

On Thursday we had our potato decorating competition and we voted for our favourite pupil and staff entry! Well done to Hallie in 1TS for winning the competition with your fabulous Harry Potter potato! Well done to Mrs B for winning our staff competition with your fabulous Dobby potato!
