Summer 2 Week 4 – Friday 26.6.26

Wow! It’s been a hot week!

This week has been lots of fun in the sun and shade.

On Monday, we completed end of year assessments in Grammar and Punctuation, Spelling and Arithmetic. The children worked incredibly hard in the heat and we achieved some exceptional results. The children also completed their work on their persuasive letter in English. Using a wide range of persuasive features and some wonderful Y5 writing techniques, the children have crafted some exceptionally good writing.

On Tuesday, we continued assessment week with our Reasoning and Problem Solving in Maths. Music, saw us looking at using chords when playing the glockenspiel – the sound was fantastic.

Wednesday was a wonderful day for our poets, who performed their amazing Poems on stage at the Middlesbrough Poetry Slam. Well done to both the girls and the boys for their superb efforts. We will try and get the videos online at some point next week. The remaining children worked wonders in sweltering temperatures back in school, and thoroughly impressed the visitors we had.

On Thursday, we completed our assessments by working through three texts in our reading test. The children tried hard to answer a range of really tricky questions about a story, a poem and an information text about an astronaut. The children also continued their work in History by learning more about the city states of ancient Maya.

We ended the week with a dress rehearsal of Shakespeare Rocks for the children in Reception Class. The performance was fantastic and will be a real treat for any parents or family attending on Wednesday or Thursday next week.

All tickets for the performances have now been handed out.
