Year 5 – Summer 2 – Week 2 – 13/06/2025

Our new topic has launched this term, A Connecting World! In this topic we will explore 3 differing parts of the world. California, France and the North East. Over the coming weeks, we will be comparing their locations and landscapes by immersing ourselves in their cultures.

In English we have completed our draft diary entry inspired by the text Holes – you may have seen the film version! We are currently busy publishing our wonderful writing in our Creative Curriculum books, focussing on our pristine presentation. We have worked incredibly hard to produce this piece of Writing in order to show off all of the skills we have learnt and refined so far in Year 5.

Maths this week, we have completed our unit on translation and reflection. We have learnt about mirror lines and how to reflect shapes accurately and also describe their translations.

In Science we have started a new unit called Animals including humans. So far we have explored the reproductive system in animals. We will be exploring this further in coming weeks.

This week, the girls have completed their project with MFC. We have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the importance of a healthy balanced diet, the different food groups and the importance of being physically active and hydrated. We have thoroughly loved these sessions and combined with some additional physical activity we are aware of the benefits on our body.

The boys have loved their Friday afternoons with Mr Jackson, learning valuable life skills such as knot tying, den building and gardening – alongside some teambuilding exercises and extra cricket sessions!

The Pupils of the week –

in 2HS – Leo for excellent progress with handwriting.

In 2DJ – Bella for superb effort in Writing this week.
