Summer 2 week 3 – 20.6.25

We continued our topic work this week, with a closer look at North America and in particular the human and physical geography of California. We found out about some of the national parks in western USA as well as some of the famous landmarks of the region.

In English we have begun to work on a new piece of writing – narrative. Our focus will be on writing a short story (which still has lots of action and great descriptions) but one which helps the reader learn more about the characters through the words they say aloud. We have used 2 stories as inspiration: Shipwrecked and Raysha vs Aashman. Both tell the story of two characters using a range of dialogue.

Maths this week, our focus was on covering the final few areas of maths we haven’t looked at yet. Particular focus has been on Time and timetables, Money and Converting units of measurement.

You can find out more about our maths here on BBC Bitesize.

In Science we continued to look at animals and plants. We have been thinking about the ways animals and plants reproduce – and this we we looked at how flowers are able to reproduce and create seeds for growing new flowering plants.

This week, our PE focus was on practicing the different events for sports day (Next Friday – 27th – ). We showed our strength in the tug-of-war and super technique for throwing the howler. It was very warm in the sacks for the sack race but we still had a great time.

The children will need to come to school with their house-coloured tops next Friday morning. 9:30am start if the weather is still dry.

Well done to our athletes and cricketers who have represented the school brilliantly this week.
