Welcome back! It is lovely to see everyone back from their break and ready to learn. We have had great attendance this week, especially Rainbow class who won the 100% attendance award for this week – Keep it up! This week in maths, the children have been demonstrating some super counting – counting objects, the number of jumps or claps (taking turns). In science, the children have been understanding the different materials they may see around them – wood, plastic, glass, fabric, rubber and paper. They have been discussing the different materials and finding them around their classroom. In PE, the children have been learning the game Sharks and fishes – Attacking and defending skills. In our role play area, we have changed it into a Fruit and Vegetable shop and the children have loved playing with the real food, serving customers and restocking the shelves.
Come and Read on a Morning – The children love listening to their favourite stories

Reception Early Learning Goals
The Early Learning Goals are not used as a curriculum or in anyway to limit the wide variety of rich experiences that are crucial to child development. The ELGs support us to make holistic, best-fit judgement about a child’s development at the end of EYFS and their readiness for Year 1. Our ELGs are set out below:

Key Notices
Attendance: Pupil Absences
If your child is absent, excess of 2 days, schools are required to complete a welfare check on the third day, this supports the safeguarding of the child. Ideally you will be contacted to arrange the visit, however, if school are unable to contact you, an unannounced visit will take place and a calling card provided. We have a statutory responsibility to safeguard all of our children and appreciate your support.
Uniform
Your child needs to wear school uniform so they feel part of the Newham Bridge family. This includes:
* Red jumper or cardigan * Grey skirt or trousers * White shirt or polo shirt * Black shoes (velcro).
A suitable coat (for all weathers)
Children are learning to put their cardigans and jumpers in trays independently if they don’t want to wear them and their coats on pegs, but it is really important that these items are labelled with your child’s full name.
PE Days

PE sessions have changed. PE will take place:
Monday – Ball skills – Rackets and balls
Thursday – Mrs Short – Attack and Defence games
Children need to come to school in their PE kits:
Black joggers / leggings, white polo shirt and black trainers
It is easier for girls to wear socks rather than tights so they can put on their socks and shoes easily. Please practise with your child putting their socks and shoes on independently.
Come and Read

Every Monday, parents are invited to join their child on a morning to come and read a book. When the doors open at 8.40am, parents can pop into reception and share a book with their child until doors close at 9.00am.
Super Readers

Well done to these Reception children who have been sharing and reading their books at home. Happy Reading!
