Weekly news 10.7.26

What have Reception been doing this week? It has been such a hot, busy week!

  • Reception enjoyed their school trip on Wednesday, we went to Monk farm and had the whole farm to ourselves. The children enjoyed feeding the animals, petting the small animals, playing in the role play village, playing in the adventure park and also keeping in the shade.
  • In Maths, we were recapping on part-whole model when using 5.
  • The children created wind chimes for the fair, developing their fine motor skills by threading beads onto the chime.
  • In PE, the children have had the support from Year 6, they had created a PE lesson along with Mrs Short for our children to follow. They enjoyed it very much – developing their listening skills and enjoying the multi-sport activities.
  • The children had a special treat on Thursday, spending their attendance money on a treat. The children enjoyed having a picnic inside (too hot outside). They also had ice cream too to keep them cool.
  • On Friday, the children were able to show off their memories they have had during the year in Reception. Thank you to all the Parents / Carers for attending the ‘Celebration Assembly and for your support.

Over the year, when Reception have had 100% they have gained money in a pot. With the money we saved they were able to have a picnic treat. Well done to those who helped with their 100% attendance!

Reception Early Learning Goals

The Early Learning Goals are not used as a curriculum or in anyway to limit the wide variety of rich experiences that are crucial to child development. The ELGs support us to make holistic, best-fit judgement about a child’s development at the end of EYFS and their readiness for Year 1. Our ELGs are set out below:
