The final week has arrived and Reception have had such a busy week:

- In ‘Talk through stories’, we have been listening to and discussing the story – A little bit brave, about a bunny who was frightened to go out on an adventure with his friend. When he finally adventured into the woods he had to be brave for his friend.
- The children have been learning about materials that are waterproof and not waterproof, knowing how to keep their character dry by making a suitable umbrella for them.
- In Maths, we were learning about putting our numbers 1-10 in order.
- The children also had a fun Wednesday morning doing maths orienteering, finding mathematical questions and working out the answers in groups – celebrating Number day!

Reception Early Learning Goals
The Early Learning Goals are not used as a curriculum or in anyway to limit the wide variety of rich experiences that are crucial to child development. The ELGs support us to make holistic, best-fit judgement about a child’s development at the end of EYFS and their readiness for Year 1. Our ELGs are set out below:

Key Notices
Stay and Play

Starting Thursday 4th June, Reception would like to invite Parents and Carers to come and have a ‘Stay and Play’ on an afternoon with their child. Each week, 4 Parents or Carers at a time need to sign up at the door to sign up for one of the Thursdays this Summer term (1 adult per child).
Attendance: Pupil Absences
If your child is absent, excess of 2 days, schools are required to complete a welfare check on the third day, this supports the safeguarding of the child. Ideally you will be contacted to arrange the visit, however, if school are unable to contact you, an unannounced visit will take place and a calling card provided. We have a statutory responsibility to safeguard all of our children and appreciate your support.
Uniform
Your child needs to wear school uniform so they feel part of the Newham Bridge family. This includes:
* Red jumper or cardigan * Grey skirt or trousers * White shirt or polo shirt * Black shoes (velcro).
A suitable coat (for all weathers)
Children are learning to put their cardigans and jumpers in trays independently if they don’t want to wear them and their coats on pegs, but it is really important that these items are labelled with your child’s full name.
PE Days

PE sessions have changed. PE will take place:
Monday and Thursday – Athletics – Preparing for Sports Day
Children need to come to school in their PE kits:
Black joggers / leggings, white polo shirt and black trainers
It is easier for girls to wear socks rather than tights so they can put on their socks and shoes easily. Please practise with your child putting their socks and shoes on independently.
Come and Read

Every Monday, parents are invited to join their child on a morning to come and read a book. When the doors open at 8.40am, parents can pop into reception and share a book with their child until doors close at 9.00am.
