What a fun week in nursery! We’ve been learning about looking after ourselves. All of our stories have helped us to think about different ways to keep clean! We have been encouraging the children to play with others, take turns and work together. The rest of the school have also been learning about the British Values and in nursery lots of the children have been showing individual liberty by making their own choices when they play and also showing respect to others by playing together and turn-taking. Look at us busy learning…

In phonics, we are learning nursery rhymes, listening for rhyming words and oral blending, e.g. c-a-t, cat. I’ll share more information on the parent support page on supporting your child’s reading journey starting with phonics.
In music, we sang a lullaby, Bye Lo- Baby O and we’re trying hard to keep the beat to different music too.
We continue to strengthen our finger muscles and practise holding our crayons and pencils. Please encourage your child to mark-make at home, drawing pictures, painting, colouring and chalking. The skill we are working on is holding a pencil in the tripod grasp….

Stories of the Week
This week we have enjoyed sharing Aliens Love Underpants and Tony Ross’ story, I Don’t Want to Wash My Hands.

Each time you share a story try using these sentences… “I wonder what this story is going to be about?” “This reminds me of…” and when you have finished reading try, “My favourite part was when…” This sounds simple but is invaluable when reading with your child! It develops skills including prediction, making links and connections, recalling story parts and opinions. If you would like to borrow any more books from nursery please let me know.
Nursery Pupil of the Week
We would like to give our Pupil of the Week certificate this week to Finley for being respectful to the other children in nursery. Our Pupil of the Week certificates this week are linked to the British Values. Well done Finley!
