Year 3/4 Weekly News – 20/10/23

Another super busy week in Year 3/4!

Congratulations to our Year 4 (Group 1) swimmers this week who have completed their block of swimming lessons and safety in water training. Their resilience, determination and perseverance has been a pleasure to see and all of the children’s confidence has increased 🙂

The remaining Year 4 and Year 3 children have been extremely busy on an exciting D&T project these past 2 weeks and have designed and created their very own Parthenon! Inspired by the Parthenon built in Athens during Ancient Greece to honour the goddess of Athens, Athena.

In English, we have finalised our character descriptions based on mythical creatures from Ancient Greek myths. We have published our writing to out highest standard and are really proud of our hard work.

Next week we have an exciting Ancient Greek day planned for all of Wednesday to celebrate our learning and the end of our topic. We will be food tasting, painting out Greek inspired vases, cooking and code cracking! We can’t wait for a fun-filled day!

IMPORTANT

To celebrate World Book day in March ’24, we’ll be holding a week of activities around the theme ‘Reading is magic’.  To help us to celebrate in school, we’d welcome any donations of Halloween decorations you may have from this year.  There will also be a dressing up day, so if you have witch/wizard/Harry Potter costumes, please keep them to use during this week.  If you have any decorations we could use, please send them into school after half term, from Tuesday 7th November.  More information about our reading week will be shared in the new year.  Thank you for your continued support.
