Our topic is… Me and My Family
At the beginning of the week, we talked about what we celebrate with our families and then we found out some families would be celebrating Diwali, the festival of light.
Then later in the week, we did lots of activities to strengthen the muscles in our fingers. This will help your child when they begin writing.
We use the phonics scheme, Read, Write, Inc in school and during phonics this week, we have been learning the beginning sound of our names and making up funny names with alliteration, we liked Thirsty Theo, Crispy Cruze and Magic Maddie! Playing games at home like, I Spy, playing games with alliteration, learning tongue twisters or sharing books with alliteration in, will really help this skill.
We also follow White Rose Maths and this week we have been learning and singing number songs. Sing along with these at home… Counting Songs – BBC Teach
We have had such a busy half term, time flies when you’re having fun!

Well done to the children we have chosen for our school values awards. They are INSPIRE, ENJOY and ACHIEVE. It was hard to choose as we are proud of all the children so far this half term. And well done to this half terms Reading Stars. Please keep sharing books at home, it is essential for your child’s language and literacy development.
