On Friday 6th February (this Friday), we will be hosting our Calculation Workshop with year 6 children and their parent/carer. You should have received an invite with a reply slip last week, we will send another slip out tomorrow as an additional reminder. The session will begin at 9am and end at 9.30am, the focus is to explore the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) with your child in a motivating game mode, exploring both metal and formal written methods. We hope you can make it! 🙂
Each week your child will have 6 assignments on Reading Plus to complete. These may be a mixture of visual skills, vocabulary or reading comprehension. Your child needs to be aiming for a reading speed of 185 words per minute and 80-100% accuracy rate on their reading comprehensions, the more your child uses the programme the more confident they become as a fluent reader.
This week’s spellings are forcibly, horribly, incredibly, legibly, possibly, responsibly, reversibly, sensibly, terribly and visibly. They have been placed on EdShed and are available to access. We recommend 5 minutes each day to support them with learning their unique spelling patterns. The spelling test will take place on Friday morning, good luck!
Your child will have access to TTRS, this week we will be checking your child’s accuracy on Gig as they can only access this once a month. Last time, Isha was the only child in year 6 to achieve 100%, well done! Can we gain any more this month? 🙂
In addition to our homework, your child can access additional Maths Revision each week through Maths.co.uk. This week we have added an example of an Arithmetic paper to help you understand the expectation in May assessments, please take a look with your child, these questions are all in the style of SATs.
All children will receive their CGP books for Maths and Reading  they will be expected to complete Set B, Test 6 and puzzle. Each test is designed to be completed in 10 minutes. If you child attends Homework Club, they will gain adult support to complete these as they are structured in the same way as SATs questions.
Homework Club is on every Tuesday 3.20-4pm. If your child already has permission to walk home, they are able to walk home from Homework Club; however, if you child is collected normally at 3.20pm, they will also need collecting at 4pm. Please sign up at the school office to ensure we are aware of your child’s attendance.
All children are able to bring a small snack to keep them going e.g. fruit, biscuit bar or a packet of crisps. Please remember this is only a small snack and must be nut free. The focus of the session is for your child to complete all homework with the opportunity for teacher support 🙂
