Homework Week Beginning 13.10.2025

Each week your child will have 6 assignments on Reading Plus to complete. These may be a mixture of visual skills, vocabulary or reading comprehension. Reading Plus are currently running a competition where the top 5 schools could be in with a chance of winning £150 of Amazon vouchers. Last year, we were fortunate enough to be one of the winners, could this happen again? Good Luck Year 6!

This week’s spellings are revisiting their 3/4 and 5/6 spelling word lists. They have been placed on EdShed and are available to access. We recommend 5 minutes each day to support them with learning their unique spelling patterns. These are words the children need to be using regularly in their writing as they will be assessed against them each time they complete a piece of written work.

Your child will have access to TTRS, this week we will be checking your child’s Gig. They will receive a score out of 100 questions. Last time we had 3 children achieve full marks, I wonder if we will gain any more this time 🙂

All children will received their CGP books for Maths, Reading and GPS they will be expected to complete Test 4. Each test is designed to be completed in 10 minutes. If you child attends homework club, they will gain adult support to complete these as they are structured in the same way as SATs questions.

Homework Club is on every Tuesday 3.20-4pm. If your child already has permission to walk home, they are able to walk home from Homework Club; however, if you child is collected normally at 3.20pm, they will also need collecting at 4pm. Please sign up at the school office to ensure we are aware of your child’s attendance.

All children are able to bring a small snack to keep them going e.g. fruit, biscuit bar or a packet of crisps. Please remember this is only a small snack and must be nut free. The focus of the session is for your child to complete all homework with the opportunity for teacher support 🙂

This week your child will be completing their first attempt at some SATs papers. We will be using these to assess any areas of knowledge that have previously been taught and need revisiting, but also as an opportunity to support your child in the knowledge of the structure of these assessments in May. From previous experience and feedback, we know the children have found them a really valuable experience as they liked knowing sooner rather than later the structure of the papers and the expectations required. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 6 teaching team 🙂
