Homework Week Beginning 08.12.2025

Homework Club has ended this term, we will be back in Spring Term for further support after school. Thank you for your encouragement with attendance, it has been great seeing our numbers increase each week 🙂

Each week your child will have 6 assignments on Reading Plus to complete. These may be a mixture of visual skills, vocabulary or reading comprehension. Your child needs to be aiming for a reading speed of 185 words per minute and 80-100% accuracy rate on their reading comprehensions, the more your child uses the programme the more confident they become as a fluent reader.

This week’s spellings are alphabet, elephant, dolphin, graph, pamphlet, pheasant, phone, photo, physical, sphere. They have been placed on EdShed and are available to access. We recommend 5 minutes each day to support them with learning their unique spelling patterns. These are words the children need to be using regularly in their writing as they will be assessed against them each time they complete a piece of written work.

Your child will have access to TTRS, this week, they have free choice. If they access 5 times for 15 minutes each day, Miss Horvath has a treat for them on Friday – Good luck! 🙂

Spark your pupils’ imaginations with The Adventures Of…

The Adventures Of… a fun and flexible writing competition where they’ll create a mini saga, a story told in up to 100 words.

All they need to do is decide who or what their story is about. You can easily link it to your current topic or adapt it to suit your pupils’ interests and abilities – it’s creative writing made simple, creative and cross-curricular!

They could write a story, a recount, a diary entry, a letter, or a day in the life. It could be about a fictional character, a historical figure, or even themselves!
