Spring Term 1 – Friday 9.1.2026

Welcome Back to school! We hope you had a lovely break over Christmas and New Year!
The children came back into school on Tuesday and have been brilliant all week. They’ve come back with a great attitude to learning and have worked really hard.
In English we have begun a new piece of written work based on the narrative Alma, a short video animation about a young girl and a mysterious doll shop. You can watch the film here… ALMA FILM. As part of this work we’ll need to create some dialogue between Alma and the shop owner, so we’ll have to make sure we can write speech sentences accurately. You can learn more about them here… SPEECH SENTENCES.
In Maths, we have looked in more detail at multiplying fractions by whole numbers. The children have worked really well and have understood that they should only multiply the numerator by the whole number and the denominator remains the same. You can find out more here… MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS.
In PE, we began to learn some of the basics about Netball (even though it was very cold) we were full of energy and performed the drills and played in the mini games brilliantly. If you’d like to know more, you can watch this video from England Netball… HIGH 5 NETBALL. We also had a lovely session of Yoga this week, with Mighty Warriors.
Our new topic this term focusses on The Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. We’ll add some of the key information we need to learn in this topic next week – but our focus will be all about how England changed during the settlement of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. We’re hoping to go on a trip as part of this topic and will share details with you as soon as we have more information. If you’d like to know some of the basics, you can watch this video… ANGLO SAXON ENGLAND.
We hope you have a lovely restful weekend and the weather improves a little for some fun weekend activities!

Well done to our Pupils of the week. They have had a brilliant start to 2026. Well done boys!
Otis in 2HB – for getting involved fantastically in all lessons.
