Autumn Term 2 Week 1 – 7.11.25

Welcome back to the second part of the Autumn Term. The children looked well rested and were definitely ready and raring to get back to work.

We began a new unit of writing, to produce a non-chronological report all about a fictional planet. The children looked at good examples of reports and identified what features make a piece writing both look and sound like a report. They loved developing ideas for their own planet this week and were inspired by a brilliant video exploring strange new worlds THE PLANETS. We began planning our writing, ready to draft our first paragraphs next week.

In maths, our new unit of work was all about fractions. We focused on identifying and finding equivalent fractions and towards the end of the week we looked at converting improper fractions to mixed number fractions. If you’d like to know more, you can visit HERE and HERE

We began a new topic, Global Goals, all about sustainability and helping the planet. We will post more information about what we’ll be covering in the topic soon. To support our learning, we’d like the children to bring in a piece of clean plastic packaging from home on Monday – perhaps an empty bottle, box, tray or bag. We’ll begin to look at the effects of plastic waste on our environment.
