Autumn 2 – Week 2

We’ve had an excellent week!

Our visit to Danby Lodge (North York Moors) visitor centre was excellent. We had great fun using GPS equipment and geocaching around the centre. We really enjoyed going into Crow Wood and exploring the area. We learned how to approximate the age of trees as well as learn a little more about the nature which calls it their home.

In English we continued to learn more about the solar system and its many parts. We continued our research towards our report and found out lots more about the planets and our sun. I wonder if the children can remember any facts that they found out????

Our Guided Reading focussed on a non-fiction text, this week. It also allowed us to find out more about the sun and we even got the chance to make our own quizzes, to challenge our friends. We are becoming excellent at reading aloud as a group – using expression, pace and the punctuation marks to help us pause effectively.

In Maths, we continued to learn more about fractions and have become more confident in identifying equivalent fractions and then using that knowledge to help us compare and order fractions. If you need any help with this week’s homework, then have a look HERE.

We all gave very generously to help Children in Need and we loved coming into school wearing light and bright clothes!

This afternoon we welcomed some parents into school to play some maths games with us. It was great fun and we look forward to doing it again soon.
