Another fantastic week has finished and we only have one week left of this half term.
Our English work continued to focus on grammar and we looked carefully at the structure of single clause sentences. We needed to make sure that we identified the subject and verb in the clause as well as identify where any other information (leftovers) belonged. We learned that if the leftovers come before the subject, then we use a comma to show that it still belongs to that single clause sentence.
In maths, we continued to look more at multiplication and division. This week, we learned all about prime, square and cube numbers as well as looking more at multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. If you’d like to know more then visit HERE. We used place value charts to support our understanding of how numbers change when they’ve been multiplied or divided, and this will really help us when it comes to using decimals.
Our science learning about the Earth and space finished, this week, but now we’re preparing some presentations to share and show off our understanding and new learning on the topic – as well as to give us a chance to present in front of the rest of the class.
In topic, we found out more about how the railways changed our town and improved its prospects. This is especially relevant when we consider the impact of the Stockton and Darlington Railway and its 200th anniversary in the last month.

Congratulations to Freddie in 2HB – he’s worked extremely hard, especially in Maths this week!
Well done to Olivia in 2DJ – she always sets a wonderful example in her work and behaviour!
It’s our final week of the half term next week, don’t forget parent’s evening on Tuesday and Wednesday and photographs on Friday. Have a lovely weekend!
