We have had a super week at school – very busy and full of interesting new learning.
In English this week, we completed our drafting and editing work on a non-chronological report about a fictional planet. The children have used a wide range of features found in these texts as well as some quite challenging sentence structures and technical vocabulary. They have thoroughly enjoyed inventing a new world full of new flora and fauna.
In Maths, our fractions work continued into adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. Finding equivalent fractions (by using a common denominator) allowed us to add and subtract them easily. If you’d like more information check HERE.
As part of our maths learning this week, Santander Bank representatives came into school to support the children’s understanding of money. The workshop included information all about savings, spending money, credit cards, paying bills, offers and advertising. The children participated brilliantly and hopefully have a better understanding of the importance of money and budgeting.
In PE, the children again benefitted from two great sessions with qualified coaches in cricket and dodgeball this week.
As part of our Geography work on sustainability, the children continued to learn all about plastic waste and how it affects the world. During the lesson, we looked at different ways we use plastic at home and at school, and how we could begin to reduce our reliance on plastic. We took a ‘plastic pledge’ in which we promised one way we would have an impact on people we know.
In Reading this week, we helped to solve a mystery! The whodunnit focussed on the theft of an expensive painting and the detective trying to figure out which of the four suspects was responsible. It involved the children reading the text really carefully and trying to find the clues hidden within.

Pupils of the week – Is’haaq and Alice – Well done to you both: we are very proud!
PE is on Monday and Wednesday next week
Assessments will be taking place throughout the week, next week – please make sure your child is in school, on time, every day.
Have a lovely weekend!
