Reception have settled back into school very well and been very active in the areas this week. It was Bonfire night this week, so the children learned about firework safety and made some firework creations. In maths, they continued developing their understanding of subsidising and showing how to make the numbers in different ways. In PE, the children learned new ball skills using their hands and enjoyed ‘Mighty Warriors’, developing their movement and balance.
Interacting in the areas and having fun

Key Notices
Uniform
Your child needs to wear school uniform so they feel part of the Newham Bridge family. This includes:
* Red jumper or cardigan * Grey skirt or trousers * White shirt or polo shirt * Black shoes (velcro).
A suitable coat (for all weathers)
Children are learning to put their cardigans and jumpers in trays independently if they don’t want to wear them and their coats on pegs, but it is really important that these items are labelled with your child’s full name.
PE Days

PE sessions have changed. PE will take place:
Tuesday – Mighty Warriors
Thursday – Mrs Short ball skills – hand control
Children need to come to school in their PE kits:
Black joggers / leggings, white polo shirt and black trainers
It is easier for girls to wear socks rather than tights so they can put on their socks and shoes easily.
Toothbrushing

Everyday the children have been brushing their teeth with their own toothbrush. They are carefully watched in small groups and follow a routine to brush their teeth.
Come and Read

Every Monday, parents are invited to join their child on a morning to come and read a book. When the doors open at 8.40am, parents can pop into reception and share a book with their child until doors close at 9.00am.
Packed Lunches

EYFS packed lunch standards emphasize healthy, balanced meals with a variety of food groups, including at least one portion of fruit or vegetable, a source of protein, a starchy food, and a dairy or alternative, while avoiding nuts (allergies), sweets, and sugary drinks. Food like small sausages, grapes need to be sliced to allow them to eat easily. Children’s independence should be supported by ensuring they can open their sealed bags and containers.
Pupil of the Week

In Rainbow group, Pupil of the Week goes to Sailor, for participating well in maths.

In Sunshine group, Pupil of the Week goes to Mabel, for being a super role model.

Mighty Warriors
Each week the children will develop skills with movement and balance and will receive a certificate. Well done to both Hannah and Aksel!

Happy Birthday
We would like to wish Teddy a happy birthday this week. Have a wonderful day!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
