This week, the children listened to the story ‘Ravi’s Roar’, about a small boy who couldn’t do certain things and therefore became frustrated. When he became frustrated, he turned into a tiger! The children enjoyed the story and answered questions about it. In maths, the children continued learning about composition up to 7. In the tuff tray, the children were able to use cubes and show different ways to make a whole number. We saw great mathematicians! The children loved being outside this week, interacting with the water, digging in the soil, riding on the trikes and drawing on the ground with chalks. In science, the children tasted strawberries and learned about the different parts of a flower.

Reception Early Learning Goals
The Early Learning Goals are not used as a curriculum or in anyway to limit the wide variety of rich experiences that are crucial to child development. The ELGs support us to make holistic, best-fit judgement about a child’s development at the end of EYFS and their readiness for Year 1. Our ELGs are set out below:

Key Notices
Attendance: Pupil Absences
If your child is absent, excess of 2 days, schools are required to complete a welfare check on the third day, this supports the safeguarding of the child. Ideally you will be contacted to arrange the visit, however, if school are unable to contact you, an unannounced visit will take place and a calling card provided. We have a statutory responsibility to safeguard all of our children and appreciate your support.
Uniform
Your child needs to wear school uniform so they feel part of the Newham Bridge family. This includes:
* Red jumper or cardigan * Grey skirt or trousers * White shirt or polo shirt * Black shoes (velcro).
A suitable coat (for all weathers)
Children are learning to put their cardigans and jumpers in trays independently if they don’t want to wear them and their coats on pegs, but it is really important that these items are labelled with your child’s full name.
PE Days

PE sessions have changed. PE will take place:
Monday – Ball skills – Rackets and balls
Thursday – Mrs Short – Gymnastics
Children need to come to school in their PE kits:
Black joggers / leggings, white polo shirt and black trainers
It is easier for girls to wear socks rather than tights so they can put on their socks and shoes easily. Please practise with your child putting their socks and shoes on independently.
Come and Read

Every Monday, parents are invited to join their child on a morning to come and read a book. When the doors open at 8.40am, parents can pop into reception and share a book with their child until doors close at 9.00am.
Pupil of the Week

In Rainbow group, Pupil of the Week goes to Alys, for growing her confidence each day when joining in with the mathematical discussions

In Sunshine group, Pupil of the Week goes to Sinam, for interacting in the areas and enjoying the writing area.
Birthdays

We would like to wish Sophia a Happy 5th Birthday for this week – Have a super day!
