Reception this week have been listening to the story ‘The Leaf Thief’, continuing with our Autumn topic. We have also listened to the story, ‘The hungry tortoise’, focusing on measurement. This week the children have been learning about comparing sizes, mass, capacity. They have been ordering sizes of conkers, acorns and hedgehogs and developing their cutting skills. They have also been investigating weight in the investigation area, comparing the weight of conkers and cubes. They have continued enjoying their music sessions with Mrs Collins and PE with Mrs Short.

Learning is fun!

Key Notices

The reception doors open at 8.40am and home time is 3pm. Please ensure your child has their school bag, water bottle and are wearing the correct uniform.

Uniform

Your child needs to wear school uniform so they feel part of the Newham Bridge family. This includes:

* Red jumper or cardigan * Grey skirt or trousers * White shirt or polo shirt * Black shoes (velcro).

A suitable coat (for all weathers)

Children are learning to put their cardigans and jumpers in trays independently if they don’t want to wear them and their coats on pegs, but it is really important that these items are labelled with your child’s full name.

PE Days

PE will take place every Wednesday this term. Children need to come to school in their PE kits:

Black joggers / leggings, white polo shirt and black trainers

Weather changes

As the weather changes and turns to Autumn, please ensure that the children bring a coat to school. We spend time playing outside in most weathers and a sunny morning can turn into a chilly afternoon quickly! Please label their coat.

Come and Read

Every Monday, parents are invited to join their child on a morning to come and read a book. When the doors open at 8.40am, parents can pop into reception and share a book with their child until doors close at 9.00am.

We will be talking about harvesting next week. We will be accepting any donations of tinned, dried,
