Weekly News 24.10.25

We have made it to half term and the children have been amazing this term. They have all tried their best at settling into the routines and enjoyed exploring and interacting in all the areas. This week, the children have been listening to the story of the Gruffalo and have made roasted fox in the the sand area, painted and made Gruffalo creations with paper and playdough and retold the story in the tuff tray. All the children were given The Gruffalo story to take home, given by the Middlesbrough Early Years and literacy trust. Outside, the children have enjoyed pretending to make potions and created beautiful wands using leaves and sticks.

Have you seen the Gruffalo?

Key Notices

Uniform

Your child needs to wear school uniform so they feel part of the Newham Bridge family. This includes:

* Red jumper or cardigan * Grey skirt or trousers * White shirt or polo shirt * Black shoes (velcro).

A suitable coat (for all weathers)

Children are learning to put their cardigans and jumpers in trays independently if they don’t want to wear them and their coats on pegs, but it is really important that these items are labelled with your child’s full name.

PE Days

PE sessions have changed. PE will take place:

Tuesday – Mighty Warriors

Thursday – Mrs Short Multi-skills

Children need to come to school in their PE kits:

Black joggers / leggings, white polo shirt and black trainers

Toothbrushing

Everyday the children have been brushing their teeth with their own toothbrush. They are carefully watched in small groups and follow a routine to brush their teeth.

Weather changes

As the weather changes and turns to Autumn, please ensure that the children bring a coat to school. We spend time playing outside in most weathers and a sunny morning can turn into a chilly afternoon quickly! Please label their coat.

Come and Read

Every Monday, parents are invited to join their child on a morning to come and read a book. When the doors open at 8.40am, parents can pop into reception and share a book with their child until doors close at 9.00am.

Packed Lunches

EYFS packed lunch standards emphasize healthy, balanced meals with a variety of food groups, including at least one portion of fruit or vegetable, a source of protein, a starchy food, and a dairy or alternative, while avoiding nuts (allergies), sweets, and sugary drinks. Food like small sausages, grapes need to be sliced to allow them to eat easily. Children’s independence should be supported by ensuring they can open their sealed bags and containers.
