A lovely week this week, the children are really settling into the routines around school. It was lovely to see the children bring in their collection of autumn treasures to add to our tuff tray and use the magnifying glasses and tweezers to look closely at the treasures. The children have been developing their pencil control skills with drawing leaves and colouring them. This week in Maths, we have been starting the lessons with subitising (recognising the number of a group of objects without counting each one) and then understanding the meaning of sets of objects. The children have been practising writing their names from their name cards. In circle time, the children talked about their friendships and why their friend is a good friend.

Key Notices
The reception doors open at 8.40am and home time is 3pm. Please ensure your child has their school bag, water bottle and are wearing the correct uniform.
Uniform
Your child needs to wear school uniform so they feel part of the Newham Bridge family. This includes:
* Red jumper or cardigan * Grey skirt or trousers * White shirt or polo shirt * Black shoes (velcro)
A suitable coat (for all weathers)
Children are learning to put their cardigans and jumpers in trays independently if they don’t want to wear them and their coats on pegs, but it is really important that these items are labelled with your child’s full name.
PE Days

PE will take place every Wednesday this term. Children need to come to school in their PE kits:
Black joggers / leggings, white polo shirt and black trainers
Weather changes
As the weather changes and turns to Autumn, please ensure that the children bring a coat to school. We spend time playing outside in most weathers and a sunny morning can turn into a chilly afternoon quickly! Please label their coat.
Come and Read

Every Monday, parents are invited to join their child on a morning to come and read a book. When the doors open at 8.40am, parents can pop into reception and share a book with their child until doors close at 9.00am.
Star Readers
Dottie and Alys have gained certificates for reading with an adult 25 times, Well done Dottie and Alys!
