Class News 09.05.25

In Maths, 1TS have been consolidating our knowledge of place value within 50. We have been partitioning numbers and finding one more and one less.

1MG and 1AC have been continued learning about statistics and exploring tally charts, tables and pictograms. We then progressed onto interpreting the data from the charts.

In English, 1TS have completed our story writing of Jack and the Beanstalk. We edited our final pieces to make sure our sentences were punctuated correctly and made sense. We then designed a front cover for our story – we really enjoyed being authors and illustrators this week.

1MG and 1AC have been recapping and consolidating our grammar. We have worked hard on fixing the sentences and identifying nouns and pronouns. We have been working on using contractions.

Our topic this term is ‘Beach Explorers’ 1MG and 1AC have made some crabs and practised their weaving skills using cardboard.

1TS have been recapping their knowledge on the 5 oceans and have been comparing them to a sea. We looked at the seas around the Untied Kingdom, named them and labelled them on a map. We looked at the different animals that live in oceans and seas around the world. The blue whale was our favourite!

This week, we have celebrated VE Day! All of KS1 made decorations for their classroom and we enjoyed a special VE Day tea party with our friends. The children loved learning the history surrounding VE Day and completed some Guided Reading questions to demonstrate their knowledge.
