KS1 Class News 28.03.25

Another great week in KS1 this week! The children have been working extremely hard and having lots of fun.

In writing this week, 1TS have been writing a set of instructions on how to grow a plant. The children have been applying their phonics skills and trying so hard with their letter formation to ensure their work is neat and tidy – fantastic! They have tried hard to correctly punctuate their sentences using capital letters and full stops in the correct place. In preparation for this piece of writing, the children enjoyed planting their own sunflower seeds and have loved taking care of them and watching them start to grow!

1MG and 1AC been exploring the features of narrative in preparation to write their own! They have worked on using past tense verbs correctly and recapped how to use exciting adjectives to include noun phrases in their independent writing. Also, they have been identifying and correctly punctuating question sentences and exclamation sentences!

In Maths, 1TS have been working hard on addition and subtraction within 20. They have been using their knowledge of number bonds to 10 to identify number bonds to 20. The children are also experts and creating a fact family!

1MG and 1AC have been learning about scales and temperature. They have been practising reading different temperatures on a thermometer.

In Geography, KS1 have been exploring the human and physical features of the UK, with a focus on our local area, comparing them to those of a Non-European country (Goa).

In Art, 1TS have been practising their sketching and have created a beautiful drawing of a peacock. They then selected the appropriate pastel colours to use and practised their blending techniques.
