KS1 Class News – 06.12.24!

We have had another wonderful week in KS1.

In English, 1TS have been continuing their learning on regular and irregular action verbs. We have also completed our Winter Handwriting Competition – we written a poem about a snowman and drew a picture to match. Our handwriting is really improving and we are trying really hard to sit out letters on the line!

1MG and 1AC have been exploring the features of a letter and have we began our plan for our own letter writing. We will be writing a letter from the perspective of Neil Armstrong, recounting the events of the Moon Landing.

In Maths, 1TS have been practising their skills for subtraction. We have used different methods and strategies to work out some tricky subtraction number problems. The children have really grasped this concept and are now working out problems independently – well done!

1MG and 1AC have been working out missing number problems. We have been finding the missing part in an addition number sentence – tricky work but we have done so well!

In History, 1TS have continued to explore the life and work of Florence Knightingale. We written some key facts about her life and discussed how her work has impacted our lives today. The children have thoroughly enjoyed this topic.

In D&T, 1TS have been working hard to design and make their very own rocket! The children have selected the materials they thought would be best for the different features of the rocket and have spent time cutting, tearing and attaching their materials to the body of the rockets. It has been so much fun!
