Homework Week Beginning 23.09.2024

Today your child received 10 Spellings to learn ready for Friday’s sentence dictation: according, awkward, conscious, dictionary, familiar, individual, neighbour, profession, sacrifice, system. Everyone also has been given a copy of their EdShed logins to access the spelling assignments set for home learning. We recommend 5 minutes every night to support their recall and understanding of these words. Please set each other challenges to use the word within conversation.

Every week for Reading your child will have their own reading book chosen from the library to quiz on using Accelerated Reader, and they will receive 6 assignments on Reading Plus to complete (your child will have time in school to access Reading Plus too to ensure they can complete the assignments).

This week we have decided to set your child a project linked to Fairtrade, over the last two weeks it has been Fairtrade Fortnight and we would like your child to create a presentation, piece of artwork, poster, recipe, baked goods that demonstrates their knowledge and understanding of what Fairtrade means in today’s society.

Here are some useful links to help you: Business and Fairtrade, Fairtrade, Fairtrade Schools, Benefits of Fairtrade, Fairtrade, the story of chocolate.

For Maths this week, we would like your child to revisit their four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) knowledge at home using tasks similar to the ones we have completed in class this last week to further enhance their confidence. Your child has a paper copy of these tasks below, the links will take you to a video for support. On TTRS please complete a Garage to identify the multiplication and division facts you need to continue learning 🙂

We had an amazing turn out at Homework Club last week and we look forward to welcoming them all again this week. Just a reminder for those parents/carers wishing to sign their child up for Homework Club; it is on every Tuesday 3.20-4pm, please get in touch with the office to arrange a place. We look forward to welcoming your child to the club for time to access resources and seek advice and support with their homework 🙂
