Spring term information

New topic – Gods & Mortals

This half term, we’re very excited to travel back to discover more about the Ancient Greeks. We’ll find out more about where Greece is and how it has changed from the Ancient times. We’ll also look at their Gods and the powers they had. Lots of our English work will be based on myths from this period, our first one is ‘Odysseus and the Cyclops’. Below is a our knowledge organisor for our topic. It includes a glossary of words we will be using and learning and more information on this ancient civilization.

PE day

This half term, both classes will spend 2 weeks swimming. Our other PE lesson will take place on Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school in the correct PE kit. Our kit is a plain white t.shirt, black shorts, leggings or tracksuit bottoms, trainers and their school jumper.

Reading at home

Reading at home really supports your child’s progress in school. Please aim to listen to your child read at least 3 times a week. Stars are awarded to those children who achieve 3 reads or more, these can then be exchanged for rewards.

Times Tables

This year Y4 will take part in the Multiplication Tables Check or MTC. This will take place in June and will test the children’s rapid recall of their times tables upto 12 x 12. We are doing lots of work on this in school. At home, please support your child by playing games or asking them questions involving their times tables. They also have access to Times Table Rockstars. We would like them to access this at least twice a week.
