Another super, creative week in Reception, the children are all doing amazingly well in the classroom and around the school. We have been learning:
PSED (Personal, social and emotional development) – We have learned about how to keep ourselves healthy by making sure we washed our hands after going to the toilet and use a tissue if we sneezed.
Oracy – We looked at a classroom scene and talked about what we observed in the picture.
Talk through stories – We enjoyed listening to the story ‘Perfectly Norman’, a story about a boy who needs to accept its okay to be different – being yourself. We learned about how the character was feeling, what the problem was in the story and joined in with the story following phrases and showing expression.
Science – We sang the song’ Head, shoulders, knees and toes and played ‘Simon says’, recognising different parts of our bodies.
PE – Linking with our ICT – algorithm (step by step instructions), the children learned to walk in different ways (forwards, backwards, fast, slow) by following colour coded instructions. Green – walk forward, red-stop, yellow -backwards, blue- fast pace, orange-slow pace. Some children even learned how to give out the instructions.

We have continued to support the Middlesbrough Toothbrushing programme, the children have their own toothbrush and independently get their own personal toothbrush and brush their teeth after lunch.
