Nursery – 9.10.26

What a lovely week in Nursery! We have been talking about different feelings and using a breathing ball to help us feel calm.

As we still welcome children into nursery, we are teaching nursery rules that keep us safe and also teaching our nursery routines, e.g. toothbrushing, Dough Disco, snack time. If your child is still unsettled when coming to in, please let them know we will have a lovely time in nursery and remind them you will come back to pick them up! Share the Widgit timetable with them so they know what to expect.

In maths, we have been looking at patterns. We looked at patterns in one of our maths stories A Muddy Chase and then we talked about patterns we could see around nursery. Lots of children are trying to draw patterns too! (And the children wanted to clean the big teeth too. They are now sparkling!)

We continue to work on the lots of fundamental skills; listening and following simple instructions, asking for help if they need it, taking turns and remembering to ‘Choose it, Use it, Put it Away!’ Well done Nursery, you are trying hard to live out our school values. Lots of playing, exploring and working on our skills. Throwing and catching, chopping, filling, drawing, hammering and creative dinosaur play! Roar!

In Music this week, we enjoyed singing slow songs, singing Everybody do this and singing along with the Singing Hands. Try and sing along and join in with the actions!

Phonics and Oracy

This week we have been saying the beginning sounds of the children’s names. Can you practise this at home too?

We also continue to practise the following Nursery Rhymes. Please practise them at home ready for our Stay and Play next week!

Our story this week…

This week our story was The Colour Monster, this helps us to talk about our feelings. Our maths story was A Muddy Chase, this helps us to learn about patterns.

Certificates

Our pupil of the week this week is Layan. She has come into nursery this week with a big smile and increased confidence! Well done Layan.
